Angel Fire is a family-oriented village located in northern New Mexico. A resort community boasting a ski mountain, PGA-rated golf course, stables, stocked fishing lake, tennis courts, playgrounds, new country club with a fitness center & lap pool, RV park and an extensive trail system, Angel Fire is your destination for year-round outdoor activities.
Located approximately three hours north of Albuquerque and an hour south of the Colorado border, Angel Fire is nestled in the Moreno Valley among the Southern Rockies. Taos is only thirty miles away offering world class skiing as well as great shopping and art galleries. As a matter of fact, Angel Fire is within an hour’s drive from three additional ski areas and a cat skiing venue. All this borders the Carson National Forest offering fabulous hiking, snowmobiling, ATVing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and mountain biking. The nationally known South Boundary Trail starts in Angel Fire and takes you through the woods on a technically challenging two wheel adventure.
If you love the outdoors, it doesn’t get any better than this. Several mountain peaks surround the area including Wheeler Peak, the highest summit in New Mexico providing fantastic hiking and mountaineering opportunities. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are available on the Rio Grande, less than an hour away. Fly fishing is a staple here and Eagle Nest Lake State Park has plenty of trout. Horseback riding opportunities are prevalent and camp fire dinners are a great family activity. When you’re looking to get away from it all, Angel Fire has all the recreational diversions you need to really relax.
Area Activities:
Camp Angel Fire is the summer recreation program based at the Angel Fire Community Center, 15 CS Ranch Road. This program is geared for kids aged 5 years (must have attended kindergarten) through aged 12 years. Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM this structured recreation program gives kids a chance to get outside and enjoy all that Angel Fire has to offer. Tennis, mountain biking, hiking, ropes courses, are some of the outdoor activities. To extend the Team Angel Fire concepts from the winter program to mountain biking in the summer. The Angel Fire Bike Park is one of the top bike parks on the world. We want to utilize our certified instructors and world class bike terrain to encourafge Team Angel Fire participants to enjoy mountain biking as a lifetime sport they way they enjoy skiing and riding.

Local Attractions:
Angel Fire makes a great base of operations to explore the surrounding Northern New Mexico area. Several locations within driving distance can offer a wide variety of interesting places to supplement your mountain adventure.
Taos
The largest surviving multi-stories Pueblo structure in the U.S. is Taos Pueblo (575-758-1028), which is home to numerous artisans.
Taos is also known for its waterworks: The Taos Box, a canyon south of the Wild Rivers Recreation Area (575-586-1150) on the Rio Grande, includes four miles of Class IV rapids in its 16 miles; the prime time to visit it in May and June. The Rio Grande, a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River, flows through an 650-foot-deep chasm outside Taos. Take in this natural splendor with a hike along the edge of the gorge or from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (575-758-8851), a cantilever bridge that spans the abyss.
Spend your day shopping in style! Visitors will find art galleries along Paseo del Pueblo, Kit Carson and Ledoux streets, but head to Bent Street for the clothing boutiques and jewelry stores.
Taos Center for the Arts (575-758-2052) boasts theater, music performances, visual arts and films. Of particular note is the semi-weekly Met digital broadcast (both new and encore performances).
Take a llama to lunch! Trek with these gentle pack animals (who carry your meal and gear) through pristine wilderness with outfitter Wild Earth Llama Adventures (575-586-0174). Includes both day trips and overnight experiences.
Red River
Visit Greenie Peak. Locals claim this is NM’s highest drivable peak. Directions at the Visitors Center (575-754-3030).
The Red River Community House offers a wide range of summer activities for all ages. From movies on the lawn the weekly line- and square-dancing, geocaching to live music. Just don’t tell my doctor you saw me at the pancake breakfast….
Las Vegas (NM, not that one)
Fort Union Drive-in (505-425-9934) is a classic drive-in open weekends in the summer. NM 518, just north of town.
Cimarron
The Kit Carson Museum (575-376-1136 boasts a staff in frontier period costume offering daily summer tours of Carson’s reconstructed home in the Philmont Scout Ranch. 11 mile south of Cimarron via NM21.
Santa Fe
World class music resounds in this region. Santa Fe is home to the world class Santa Fe Opera (505-986-5955) as well as numerous small chamber groups. The Lensic Performing Arts Center (505-988-7050), a restored, historic theater downtown, hosts many of the city’s musical events.
Raton
Shuler Theater (575-445-4746), located in Raton and built in 1915, is the center for performing arts in the region. Featuring both local and traveling artists.
Chama
Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad (888-286-2737) is a historic, narrow-gauge steam locomotive that travels 64 miles from Chama to Antonito, Co. Ride all the way (and bus back) or just to the provided lunch midway and back the same way. Climb aboard for Rocky Mountain history, scenery, and machinery. This is the true West, as it was over 130 years ago. Ahead lie the depths of Toltec Gorge and the heights of Cumbres Pass!
